You signed up. So I owe you something worth your time.
I’m Collin Vaness. I write thrillers and speculative fiction across history, the near future, and the deep past — connected not by genre but by one question: what happens to people when the world they built begins to break?
Storytelling was always the thing. Novels are the form I gave it. Fiction is where I put the questions I want to spend years inside.
One email a month. Three things in each: what I’m working on, what’s published or coming, and one thing worth your time that isn’t mine. No spam, no upselling, no churn.
On the desk right now
The Sentinel 01: Monarch Bridge is out — Meridian Saga Book 1. Vesper 01: The Missing Room — Book 2 of the season — releases in the next two weeks.
The Gate of Bones is at 99%. Final pass. It opens The Silent Threshold, a four-book prehistoric epic about three human species sharing one shrinking world. Publishing in roughly a month.
The Orbital Mandate Book 1 is at 75% — a colony ship that outlives its founders. Nothing to Declare is at 50% — a standalone novel about Oscar Wilde’s 1882 American lecture tour.
The Iron Revenants Saga — twenty books, space opera — is on the bench. I’m circling. Eventually.
The two books, if you haven’t started yet
If you read historical fiction with weight — Bernard Cornwell, Ken Follett, Sharon Kay Penman — Blood and Faith is your front door. The story of a king who lost his kingdom on July 4, 1187, and refused to die for the next decade.
If you read near-future thrillers about cities and the systems that hold them together — The Sentinel 01: Monarch Bridge is your front door. One man holds one route long enough for people to survive. The official record disagrees.
Both are at collinvaness.com/books.
One thing worth your time
The Wager by David Grann. A shipwreck, a mutiny, and the British court that had to decide whose story was true. Reads like a thriller. Tells the truth like a historian. Worth your time even if you don’t usually read non-fiction.
More soon —
Collin
P.S. Of the eight series in development, which one are you most curious about? Reply with the title. I’ll prioritize updates in future issues based on what people want to hear about.
